Feedback and Testimonials
"[I liked the] fun, visual scenarios and seeing the impact of decision-making." (Rachel Wileman, Sheffield City Council)
‘It was enjoyable and showed how different agencies can work together to achieve positive results.' (Delegate)
‘The simulation was excellent. It really got everyone talking and engaged.’ (Delegate)
These are just a few of the many positive comments from the delegates who have attended a Planit South Yorkshire sustainability work-shop delivered by EnviroFutures in partnership with Pixelfountain.
EnviroFutures and pixelfountain developed the project to fill gaps in knowledge of sustainability issues within the South Yorkshire public sector. Funded by Objective 1, Government Office and the South Yorkshire Partnership, the Planit South Yorkshire project uses an innovative learning-simulation (serious game).
Planit-sustainability simulates a ’virtual community’. Players need to collaborate on decisions and purchases in order to improve the local community. The players can then see the impact of their
choices immediately – both positive and negative!
To date, over 150 delegates have attended workshops across South Yorkshire. Feedback shows that the workshops have been very successful with delegates demonstrating greatly improved knowledge of sustainability issues. For example, whereas before the workshops only 27% had good or excellent knowledge of sustainability issues this had increased to 85% on completion of the workshops.
Amber O'Malley, Project Manager said, ‘We’ve been very pleased that the feedback we’re received to date has been so positive. We’re hoping to build on this, and are continuing to work to see how we can improve delegate’s experience of the training.”
The primary objectives of the Planit South Yorkshire learning programme:
• Effective mainstreaming of sustainable development
• To help implement the local sustainable development agenda
• Strengthen partnership working
• Improve the real world application of sustainable development
• Enhance the sub region’s sustainable development capacity
A programme of workshops will be delivered to March 2008 for public sector agencies in the South Yorkshire region.
