EC looking to simplify the WEEE and RoHS Directives

The European Commission (EC) is looking to simplify the WEEE and RoHS Directives in 2008 to make the legislation less burdensome, easier to apply and thereby more effective in achieving its goals.
Research teams have been contracted by the EC to conduct a study on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directives.
The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) has published a consultation document on the proposed revisions. BERR has requested that stakeholders respond to the consultation by Thursday, 29th November 2007.
Further details and a copy of the consultation document can be found on BERR's website here.
